A Collection of Current News About Nakedness

We're not saying that these are all within the umbrella of "nudism," but they may make for interesting reading.  The Platypus isn't saying that all of the following create more respect for the human body (in a few cases they objectify the body).  But the more we become comfortable with the human body, however it is presented, perhaps we move closer to the day when it won't be so much of a big thing and we can just get along with going naked to the beach or backyard:

British singer Andy Brown has vowed to run naked through London if his song reaches #1 on the charts this week.

Meanwhile, two female students from the University of Edinburgh have produced a Nude Cookbook that is said to depict them nude along with some of their friends and favorite recipes

Elsewhere in the UK, people continue to debate whether the Naked Rambler a/k/a Steven Gough should continue to face imprisonment simply because he insists on being naked everywhere he "Goughs."

A once-banned body artist is back to painting women as live canvasses in New York's Times Square after police lifted a moratorium on his work.  Andy Golub now paints nudes in broad daylight.

Naked Woman in Swimming Pool distracts man while his house is robbed - Guess that title speaks for itself.

Model Anca Tiribeja has posed nude for Elle magazine covers on at least some versions of the publication.  She is completely bare except for fashion accessories which are supposed to get the spotlight.

Model Karlie Kloss has stripped naked for Vogue  .. that is, the US version of the magazine.

Fiat made a car picture using only painted naked models - fascinating body art.  The concept reminds us of Salvador Dali's "skull of nudes" we remember from art history class.

There's much ado about a banned advertisement for the next season of Project Runway .  In the advertisement Heidi Klum is dressed as a queen, but all her subjects are without clothes.  Admittedly, the ad doesn't involve mere nudity... It's a bit racy in the depiction of those subjects.

A Story You Have to Read to Believe

The following story needs no introduction.  You just have to read it for yourself.  Imagine... the father and mother of 2 and 4 year olds who got into trouble just for letting them shower after a
day on the beach.

Quite unbelievable.

Did you get nude this weekend?

Go on.  You can tell us!  It was the Independence Day holiday and, for many of us, that meant at least a three day weekend.  Did you get to spend any of it bare?

The Platypus had some opportunity.  Unfortunately, he was called into work a few times to deal with some emergency situations.  Then the weather didn't want to cooperate... it rained lots and lots so going to a nude beach or club was out as an option.  (There were hours of sunny weather, but it was impossible to predict when it would stay.)

Scattered showers and work didn't mean no naked time, however.  The Platypus family simply spent our time indoors.  In our birthday suits.  Playing a video game or two.  Fixing a snack.  Watching a movie.

And there's still Sunday to be enjoyed...

Celebrate Independence From Clothes on July 4th

Reposted from a previous Bare Platypus entry last year:
THE MOST famous of summer holidays is nearly upon us.  Plan now to celebrate Independence Day by declaring independence from your clothes!  Remember too that the annual celebration of Nude Recreation Week closely follows the July 4th holiday weekend.  Many nudist clubs offer special events and pricing to get first time visitors to give nudism a try.

You can make Jello cups in red, clear, and blue layers, then enjoy them naked outside or inside.  No clothes to clean up!

You can buy some fireworks and/or sparklers if they’re legal in your state, then appoint a designated (clothed) person in your group to light them off while the naked observers admire from a safe distance.

You can enjoy a picnic in the buff---whether in your yard or living room.

You can also celebrate that some of America’s best patriots and leaders enjoyed skinny dipping.  John Quincy Adams took daily dips in the Potomac.  Benjamin Franklin spent at least an hour each day completely naked in his room after waking.  Lyndon Johnson skinny dipped to exercise and ease his mind as the Vietnam War waged.

Similarly, nudity has played a significant role on the stage of American history from time to time.  There was even a Civil War skirmish fought between soldiers who got caught with their pants down when the enemy showed up unexpected!  See http://www.civilwarinteractive.com/ArticleRobertSmall.htm
